BRAC Teaching Artist, Painting, 2010 - Present
I am a painter and live and work in Brooklyn, NY and Cape May, NJ. I studied painting at Rutgers University graduating with a BFA in 1992. I went on to get an MFA from SUNY Purchase in 1996 also in painting.
My work focuses mainly on nature and landscape. I am focused on trying to paint scenes that are as vibrant and alive as I can make them. I am fascinated by different times of day, light, weather and mood and how this can be conveyed in a landscape.
Why I Teach: “
Painting has been a passion of mine for my entire adult life. It has been my greatest pleasure as an educator to introduce children and teens to new artists and ways to work. My greatest hope is that they will continue this exploration on their own and with their parents. I strongly believe that will open up new worlds for them and the tools to realize their own
artistic vision.
